Asset Servicing AnalystWhat is the nature of your role and its responsibilities?
Manage and ensure smooth operation of services related to investment assets for clients, such as investment firms or banks. Main responsibility is processing and monitoring corporate actions such as dividends, stock splits, mergers and acquisitions. Our daily tasks include ensuring income from investments is properly distributed to clients and performing reconciliation to check internal records against external systems. The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of financial markets, and ability to meet daily deadlines.
What led you to follow this career path?
My decision to follow this career path was influenced by previous experience working in banking sector which intrigued me on financial industry. I’m naturally curious and enjoy exploring new areas to expand my knowledge.
What qualification(s) or training did you complete?
I have a Diploma in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Intelligent Systems Engineering. Once started on this career path, I have monthly trainings on investments, frauds and compliance prepared by company.
How are your qualification(s) or training useful in your everyday job?
What does an average working day look like for you?
We have 3 cycles of data extraction; morning, afternoon and late evening. After data extraction, we need to look for any significant market events that may affect the assets we are managing. We process corporate actions and ensure clients’ holdings are adjusted accordingly. We also need to attend to client queries regarding their asset holdings, transactions, or any discrepancies they may have noticed via email and call. By the end of the day, we need to ensure everything has been processed accurately before logging off.
What aspect of your role do you most enjoy?
The satisfaction of ensuring accurate asset management and meeting deadlines.
What aspect of your job do you find most challenging?
Asset servicing frequently requires using sophisticated financial software and systems. When technical issues or system failures occur, they can disrupt your workflow and demand swift troubleshooting or coordination with IT team to fix them. This can be frustrating, particularly when you’re working under tight deadlines.
What would be your top piece of advice for anyone wanting to become an asset servicing analyst?
Familiarise yourself with Excel and learn how to handle data efficiently. Also, be prepared to adapt quickly and ask questions—you’ll pick up industry-specific knowledge on the job. Strong communication skills are also important, as you’ll often interact with clients and colleagues. Finally, stay curious, detail-oriented and keep learning as you grow in the role.
