About Theo
I have been tutoring since 2019, helping students with a range of abilities, goals, ages, and personalities. In that time, I have picked up a wealth of tutoring experience which allows me to tailor my sessions to suit the tutee and their goals best. In fact, I enjoyed tutoring so much that it led to me study at Cambridge University to get my PGCE and become a qualified full time teacher! This course strengthened my pedagogical knowledge and helped me to become an even better tutor. I am now employed as a teacher of Engineering and Electronics (Design and Technology). I have helped previous students with exam revision, coursework, interview preparation, personal statement writing, and recap of class content to consolidate understanding.
Tutoring Style
I like to adapt my style to the tutee, as I beleive there is no one-size-fits-all approach for learning. Some find diagrams helpful, others prefer to listen, watch videos, understand by analogy or through worked example questions. The structure of the session will depend heavily on the tutee's goals and foundational knowledge. Having said that, a warm and friendly temperament helps to build mutual respect and boost engagement in any tutoring session.
