I was a very experienced Head of Science and Physics with more than 26 years in post teaching Physics at all level from year 9 to 13. After a year teaching in Dubai I now teach at a prestigious independent school. I have a proven record of achieving good grades at A level and with GCSE subject results that are regularly the best in the school when I was the only Physics subject specialist. Of particular pride is the number of girls who chose to study A level Physics, with a recent student having reached round 2 of the Physics Olympiad. I also routinely accepted and successfully guided students through the A level course without them studying A level Mathematics. I have led a diverse department at the forefront of innovative, varied and cooperative teaching and learning and helped staff manage numerous changes of curriculum and teaching approach whilst maintaining the highest standrad of teaching and support for students. 

I believe in innovative, varied and cooperative teaching and learning and that a wide variety of resources and approaches are needed to further knowledge and understanding. The basis of good tutoring is organisation and preparation and tailoring the lesson and resources to the individual needs of the student. I am equally proficient at teaching in a traditional style but also using a variety of media, simulations and clips to enhance and support the learning experience. I have several years experience marking exams for AQA and Edexcel and thus ultimately know that students must be helped with exam technique and practise questions once topics have been taught.
