About Rachel
My name's Rachel and I'm a third year medical student at Imperial College London. I've been tutoring since 2019 and almost 80% of my tutees achieve Grade 8 or 9 at GCSE. I aim to empower students with the confidence to try by creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. I hope we can work together and achieve your best results!
Tutoring Style
My tutoring style is extremely diverse to suit the range of subjects, abilities and personalities of my tutees. Worksheets, videos, mnemonics, infographics - all are welcome in my lessons! Generally, I gauge a student's confidence on a topic and adjust my material to start within their comfort zone and progressively get more difficult throughout the lesson. Exam technique can need as much practice as content, so I make sure we always have a go at some exam questions. I also utilise active recall in every single lesson by encouraging students to explain concepts back to me in their own words, having quick short quizzes throughout our lesson and using mind maps to show relationships between different concepts. Often, I make some flashcards or worksheets for tutees to take away after our lesson for them to complete in their own time, or even use as a revision resource. My main goal is to give students the confidence to try, the space to make mistakes and the best environment to excel.
