I retired from University teaching in 2019 to focus on politics, but missed the enjoyment of helping people learn about the subject I have been so passionate about since a child. Tutoring lets me share that passion but without the endless admin my role at University had become. I lectured in geographic subjects for over 20 years, undergraduate and postgraduate, from first year degree fieldwork to postgraduate planning on an RTPI recognised masters degree. I am a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and have a vast wealth of experience teaching children and young adults of all ages and levels of knowledge. 

My enthusiasm shines through in my tutoring style. I always feel it is critical a student really understands an issue, theorem or technique before moving on. Understanding is critical to further learning and simple memorisation doesn't do the student any favours in the long term. I thrive on challenge and helping an enquiring mind emerge and thrive, I love being asked questions and always want feedback from anyone I teach.
