Hello, my name is Niranjan and I am a doctor graduating from King’s College London. I have been tutoring online since my first year of university and have gained over 1000 hours of experience across maths and the three sciences. This has been across several exam boards, and from early KS3 through to A-level.

In my clinical years I have had several placements and workshops involving clinical skills. In these environments I have been able to hone my communication and interpersonal skills, which enables me to better present information and engage with my students on the lesson space. This year we have received a module of teaching dedicated to the role of the doctor as a teacher, imparting upon me further skills to employ in the lesson space.

My years in education have given me the opportunity to hone efficient revision around exam periods. I know how important it is to make a good plan of action in order to ensure that all the content is covered in time for exams. I endeavour to equip all of my students with an efficient approach to revision for anything from end of topic tests to bigger exams. 

This year I am on the committee for the KCL Respiratory Medicine Society. My role involves organising and participating in outreach events where we present to students basic medical concepts such as anatomy and some clinical skills. 

I will structure my lessons by starting off with setting goals for each session that I communicate to the student and will go through by the end. This will leave the student feeling a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment with each session, and a positive attitude towards upcoming sessions.

Following presentation to the student the main content of the lesson I will present some example exam questions on the lesson learning space to test their understanding and also go through with them exam technique as I am aware of the importance of it at all levels of learning. We will go through the mark scheme together after answering the questions and discuss any room for improvement.

At the end of a main section of learning, I may set some exam questions for the student to go through in their own time, and bring with them the answers to the next session where I will discuss with them what they did well and how they could improve

I will leave time at the end of each session so that the student may ask me any questions that they feel have been unanswered.
