About Muin
I am a final year medical student who has been very fond of Chemistry and Biology since year 7 initially due to their logical and methodical nature and later understanding their consanguinity that allows Healthcare professionals and Researchers to find innovative ways to treat patients and find cures to disease. These subjects allowed for me to gain insight into the science behind human growth and development as well as the processes leading to disease and harm.
Since starting my tutoring journey 7 years ago now I'm still amazed by the new discoveries that are found year on year or month on month. I ascertain if my students have a similar interest and use these examples to help improve their learning and understanding of difficult topics.
From a very young age I've always enjoyed maths partially because I found it easier than my other subject and mainly because it allowed me to solve questions in a manner that was different to someone else. Sometimes in a completely unique way but still allowing me to achieve the marks and establish the correct answer.
Physics has always been my most challenging science initially I thought I'm not physics brained but the reality is it's not how you're brain is geared but rather how that potential can be extracted. My year 9 physics teacher explained topics to me in such a manner that things started to fall into place and just make sense. This is something I strive to do for all my students.
Tutoring Style
I don't believe in a one size fits all approach and therefore, whilst I do follow the structure of the curriculum and set my lesson plan out in a manner that compliments the teaching system being delivered to the student via their school, I am very flexible in my approach to what exactly we will cover in a lesson and try to establish a fun safe healthy learning environment from the start allowing my student and I to openly discuss what's going well and what extra support is needed.
I plan all lessons in advance using my notes and textbooks ensuring that all the information is correct and comprehendible Furthermore, if my student inadvertently sets me homework by asking a question I'm not sure on I'll go after the lesson and research the answer then send them a quick message about the answer and cover in a little more detail the answer in our next lesson.
I engage my students by using relevant examples and exploring ideas in a manner that the textbook does not and is difficult to do in a classroom setting. This personalises the learning process and allows for my students to enjoy learning and therefore do well.
I ensure that my students are prepared for their exams by setting regular tests to be sat under exam conditions as this gives a sample of the real test but also highlights any weaknesses in understanding which can then be tackled with further examples or further explanation.
