Geography isn't just a subject for me; it's a lifelong passion that's taken me from the UK to New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, teaching and leading in schools across the globe. For 16 wonderful years, I headed the Geography department at the Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur, where we built a creative and engaging learning environment recognised with the Secondary Geography Quality Mark in 2023.

But my love of geography extends beyond the classroom. It's in the family! I even had the pleasure of teaching my own two children GCSE and A-Level Geography (my daughter now has an MSc in Environmental Development, and my son is currently pursuing a BSc in Geography; it seems to be contagious!).

With four years of experience as an Edexcel and International Edexcel examiner, I have unique insights into what it takes to succeed in A-Level Geography. I've guided numerous students to top marks, including two who achieved the highest scores in Asia for EDEXCEL A-Level Geography in both 2022 and 2024! And in 2022, two of my students even triumphed in the British Geological Society's National Schools Geology Challenge.

When I'm not exploring the world of geography, you'll find me cheering on Wrexham Football Club or enjoying music and sports. Currently, I'm on a 'grey gap year,' pursuing my MSc in Sustainable Development, allowing me greater flexibility in my tutoring times.

My tutoring style prioritises building a strong rapport with each student. This allows me to understand strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles, so I can tailor sessions to specific needs.

I believe in keeping learning interactive and engaging. We'll have one-on-one discussions, especially when tackling those challenging higher-level exam questions, and I'll use a wide range of resources, including GIS and quizzes. Students will also access my extensive library of materials, including past papers, case studies, and interactive exercises.

Of course, tutoring sessions will focus on mastering the syllabus and essential exam techniques. Guided exam writing sessions are paramount to student success. But just as important is fostering a genuine love of geography.
