Hi! I'm Mariam, currently in my fourth year of studying Medicine at King's College London. I'm currently tutoring Maths, Biology and Chemistry GCSE. My take on tutoring is that it is not one size fits all, I like to adapt my teaching style to the students individual needs, allowing them feel comfortable whilst being pushed to achieve their potential - this yields amazing results! I am also happy to help with medical school applications, including personal statement and interview practice, and general advice.

As a medical student, I have had experience working with other healthcare professionals as well as patients and I have further honed my ability to break complex topics into digestable amounts depending on each student's individual level.

I recieved a 9 in each of the subjects I tutor at GCSE and also studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level, attaining A* A* A respectively.

I like to speak to my students first and conduct an informal learning needs assessment, which includes:

- deciding if the tutee wants to go through the specification in order or study a new topic every week

- identifying which topics are strong and which topics need to be strengthened

- working out which learning style works for them and adapting my teaching to facilitate this

- discerning whether the lessons will be mainly teaching, revising, practicing questions and exam technique or a mixture of all elements. 

I emphasise the importance of studying in manageable amounts consistently, as well as a huge focus on exam practice to achieve higher marks. I support my students and offer help where needed, creating a student-led approach to learning.
