I'm Luke! I am a highly experienced A-level Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics tutor, and also do tutoring for university admissions tests and interviews (PAT, STEP, Oxbridge). I've got several years of tutoring experience, including being one of the first tutors on the PMT site. I provide teaching support for students throughout the academic year, particularly in the run up to exams and the university admissions period.

I've just finished studying Engineering Science (MEng) at the University of Oxford and have been awarded a First Class Degree. Currently studying towards a PhD in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, in the economic modelling of decarbonisation technologies.

Mathematics and physics, particularly at A Level, draws on the fundamental concepts as a foundation around which to build more complex knowledge. Through the recent years of disruption to education, students may have gaps in their understanding of more fundamental concepts which may be a barrier to developing their knowledge further at A Level and performing to the best of their potential. My role as a tutor is to help address these gaps so that students can excel at Maths and Physics at A Level.

As such, I take a balance approach to tutoring sessions, starting each lesson with a quick refresh on the key topics and concepts, and then discussing with students any areas that they are unsure of before working through problems and exam questions with students to work on their application of concepts to problem-solving. The whiteboard provided through PMT's platform is an essential aide for this, meaning that both students and I can collaborate in real time to work through tricky concepts or questions. 

I'm considered patient and reassuring as a tutor, and make sure to plan my sessions carefully so that my teaching and approach is tailored to individual students. I have a wide experience of working with pupils of many different ages, in small groups or on an individual basis, and my approach to tutoring has been well-regarded and commended by previous students and parents.
