Hi! I’m Kirthana, a fourth-year medical student at Imperial College London. Over the past five years, I have tutored over 50 students, helping them excel in GCSE and A-Level subjects, including biology, chemistry and physics. I also provide specialised UCAT tutoring and medical interview practice for aspiring medical students. My students have achieved remarkable results, with A-Level grades ranging from B to A*, and GCSE scores of 8-9s. Many of them have successfully gained admission to prestigious universities such as Imperial College, Cambridge, King's College, St. George’s, and Plymouth.

My tutoring style is tailored to each student's individual needs and learning styles, ensuring that every lesson is both effective and engaging. I offer a mix of interactive and visual lessons, utilising PowerPoint presentations and tools like OneNote and Notion to make lessons as dynamic as possible. My sessions are meticulously prepared to be interactive and engaging, helping students grasp complex topics and retain information effectively.

I focus on two main aspects in my sessions:

Understanding: For students who need help with complex topics, I ensure they have a deep understanding of the material. This involves breaking down difficult concepts into simpler, more digestible parts and reinforcing learning through discussion and examples.

Application: For students struggling with exam techniques, I provide rigorous practice on a variety of question formats to help them excel in an exam setting. This includes customised homework assignments and tests that mimic exam conditions, ensuring thorough preparation.

Additionally, I can switch between content-heavy lessons for those who need a strong grasp of the material and exam-focused sessions for students nearing their exams. Often, I combine both approaches to cover all bases, ensuring my students are well-prepared and confident.

In my UCAT tutoring, I share effective strategies and time-saving techniques to help students achieve top scores. I run through the medical ethics and scenrios for SJT practice.

For interview preparation, I am very thorough, using a wide array of preparatory materials and focusing primarily on practice, which is integral for performing well in interviews. I provide model answers and extensive practice questions to ensure students are fully prepared to impress their interviewers.
