I am a first year Medical Student at the University of Cambridge, having just finished A-levels, and GCSEs just over 2 years ago! I started tutoring because I enjoy delving into a subject one-on-one with students, and unpacking a particular topic that they may be finding difficult. 

At A-levels, I completed Maths (A*), Biology (A*), Chemistry (A) and Music (A*). At GCSEs, I achieved all 9s in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Literature, English Language, Music, French, Geography and Religious Studies. 

I have also tutored in providing admission help and mock interviews for students applying to study Medicine, including Oxbridge specific help.

My tutoring style very much depends on the student - I provide individual, specific tutoring tailored to each student and ensure that my lesson plan, structure and organisation fits with their aims, whether that be to achieve a certain grade, or to delve deeper into a certain area of the subject. 

I believe that at the core of tutoring should be understanding, not memorisation. It is integral to ensure that students can then go on to answer questions that require an understanding first, and then to use that understanding to help answer a question on a topic that they may not know about. Establishing key concepts will enable students to tackle all sorts of questions. 

I also provide advice on multiple ways of revising - it is important to continuously review the content outside of lessons to ensure that the understanding is solidified, especially all the way until the summer exams. In lessons, I try to vary the types of activities - but they usually include a short review task, which is a series of questions from multiple different topics that we have covered, to see how much the student has retained. Then, I always allow the student time to go over anything they would like, for example a question sheet from school, and then finally moving onto content, teaching and also always asking the student questions to check that they are following on - my approach to teaching is very much interactive.
