I have taught Chemistry for well over 30 years, the last 26 years in a successful, academic sixth form college. I was Curriculum Manager for Chemistry for 15 years and also managed the vocational Applied Science in the college for over 10 years. I have taught and managed both the OCR A and B specifications. I have also tutored AQA A level Chemistry.

I have been a senior tutor in the college and was previously a Head of Chemistry in an 11-18 comprehensive school. I have examined Chemistry for OCR and am also an experienced one-to-one tutor for A level Chemistry. As a personal tutor, I enjoy helping students prepare for transition to Higher Education and have supported many students through their Oxbridge applications

I enjoy establishing a good rapport with my students and have a friendly, supportive approach to tutoring. I always tailor my sessions to the specific needs of the student and am able to approach topics in different ways to suit individual learning styles. I will encourage and foster a positive and encouraging learning environment. I can help with revision techniques and also with the way in which students approach exam questions to inspire confidence and a calm approach. I believe in thorough lesson planning to gain the most from a session and always include questioning or exam practice to demonstrate progression in learning
