Hi, I’m Ardis, a 2nd-year medical student at the University of Birmingham!

I’m a passionate, friendly, and highly experienced tutor dedicated to helping students achieve the grades and university offers they deserve. Having earned mostly 9s at GCSE and A*s in A-Level Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, I understand what it takes to excel academically. I also successfully received all four of my medical school offers, two from prestigious Russell Group universities, so I’m here to guide you on that same path to success.

My Tutoring Experience

With over four years of tutoring experience, I’ve supported more than 40 GCSE and A-Level students. All my GCSE students have not only met but often exceeded their target grades, and my Year 12 and 13 students have achieved consistent A and A* grades. Many have even found their exams significantly easier after our regular sessions together. I’ve also worked with students with learning difficulties, and I strongly believe every student has the potential to excel with the right guidance and hard work.

Medical School Applications

As someone who has been through the competitive medical school application process, I specialize in preparing students for the interview and UCAT stages, where I personally excelled. In fact, I received one of my offers just days after my interview due to outstanding performance. With my UCAT score in the top 10% nationally in 2022, I offer invaluable tips, strategies, and mock interviews to help you navigate this crucial stage. Since August 2023, all my UCAT students have achieved a minimum score of 2800 and received multiple medical school offers.

My Teaching Approach: A Comprehensive Learning Experience

My teaching style is highly flexible and goes beyond just the one-hour online session. I believe in a holistic approach to ensure students not only understand the material but are fully prepared to apply it effectively in exams or interviews. I break down my tutoring into three key stages:

Pre-Lesson Preparation

Before each lesson, I collaborate with the student to identify areas of weakness, either from previous sessions or based on their own concerns. I then curate tailored resources and upload a detailed lesson summary outlining what we will focus on. Additionally, I share the same materials I used to revise during my own A-Levels, ensuring students have access to tried-and-tested resources.

During the Lesson

Every session is customized to the student’s learning style and needs. I incorporate exam-style questions, recall practice, and quizzes to ensure students not only grasp the concepts but can confidently apply them in the final exam. I typically use a digital whiteboard or PowerPoint to explain content, but I adjust my methods to suit the student’s preferences.

Post-Lesson Follow-Up

After each session, I assign homework packs to reinforce learning and help the student consolidate their knowledge. I also provide a brief report summarizing the key topics we covered. All resources and materials used during the lesson are made available to the student for further review.
