A passionate teacher who helps students increase their grades fast while discovering the enjoyment that comes from mastering mathematics.

Qualified at Master's level, I completed my teacher training (PGCE) in 2014 and have taught GCSE and A-level maths classes in secondary schools ever since. 

I have occupied the role of Head of Mathematics in a non-selective state school where the maths department achieved 85%+ pass at GCSE and the top set class I was teaching all achieved level 7+ (over 50% reached levels 8 and 9). 

Last summer, my Y13 class results were: 60% A* to B, 80* A* to C, and no one got a U. On average, they increased by 2 to 3 grades from their AS exams (I only taught them in Y13 and in Y12, the best result in the class was a C). This was the best A-Level results in the school non-selective state school). 

It is important to me that students build an understanding of the subject over time as their skills develop towards mastery. I make sure the foundation is solid, and teach in small steps building on prior learning, I encourage questions if anything is unclear and I don't leave any gaps.

I also know the syllabus and past exams very well so I can focus on the most important topics first, ensuring maximum progress in the allocated time. I can devise revision programs and order of study for students who are working independently and would benefit from such support.

My students are encouraged to complete exam practice and mock papers on their own so that the time with their tutor is dedicated to addressing their difficulties and therefore learning and progressing. 

I am aware that many learners experience math anxiety, a condition that can significantly hinder their ability to make progress in mathematics. I pay particular attention to those students who are affected by this challenge.
