I have a BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences, and an MA in Education. I am a qualified teacher, and have taught in UK schools for 16 years, from Years 7-9, GCSE science, specialising in Biology and AS level Biology.
Over the last 5 years, to support students who have missed out on classroom learning, I’ve tutored biology using online methods and have excellent testimonials where students have achieved the grades needed to go onto their chosen course. I am calm, patient and continuously check for understanding to ensure students have secured the knowledge they require.
I am a qualified lead practitioner, and have trained new teachers and coached experienced teachers. I've lead professional development across schools to improve teaching and learning, for more effective student outcomes & results. I have a proven track record of improving student grades. 

I tutor on line and start with retrieval practice from previous sessions and checking existing knowledge before moving into the lesson so I know what level to teach the student.
Next comes explicit instruction of ideas and questioning to ensure understanding takes place. I use metaphors, analogies and make abstract concepts concrete first so they have a frame of reference. Application of knowledge through exam questions enables me to see if the student has understood the lesson or whether I need to revisit information.
I tutor to the needs of the student. Whether they want me to reteach missed learning, support with exam technique and application questions, or get ahead with the learning. Some students have sent me their test papers from school and asked me to go through these.
If a student is not sure what they need to go through, I’ll ask questions about up and coming assessments, what they’ve done already mock exams & revision lists and help shape the up and coming schedule with me. This schedule is flexible, and I am adaptable to the changing needs of the student.
