About Alham
Following my graduation from the London School of Economics (LSE), I went straight into training to teach secondary level Maths. Being a tutor before and during my time at university was one of the main factors that intrigued me into teaching. After my second year of teaching, I was given the opportunity to also teach Economics. 7 years on I have had the experience of teaching both GCSE and A-Level Maths and Economics.
Tutoring Style
My tutoring style is tailored to suit the needs of the tutee, which depends on the subject and qualification, their aspirational target grade, alongside where their misconceptions lie. Teaching multiple subjects across different key stages and abilities has really allowed me to develop as a versatile tutor. With mathematics I believe "leading-by-example" is the best way to ensure that tutees grasp new content or recall previous taught concepts. With economics, I provide a mixture of content and essay writing skills - however this can be adjusted to the needs to the tutee. The latter tends to become more prioritised within A-Level. It is essential to set the level of challenge to be high but attainable and to support with appropriate intervention whilst allowing space for tutees to make mistakes in a safe environment with no judgement.
