Hello! I'm Adam - I'm currently studying for a PhD in Medical Physics at UCL and I have a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Oxford. I have a wealth of experience tutoring maths and physics at GCSE, A Level, and beyond. I especially enjoy working with ambitious students at A level and above who are eager to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts they have learnt in school. In short, I believe in the 'learning-by-doing' approach to tutoring. Prior to each session, I will set a range of questions for the student to work on; typically, these will include a selection of 'standard' questions for the students' level, followed by a handful of extension questions designed to help the student build on their problem solving skills and engage more deeply with the topics at hand.

I aim to make sessions as collaborative as possible; I like to allow students the freedom to approach each question in the way they see fit, then I will ask open-ended questions to help guide the student to a solution. This approach promotes independent thought and I have found that it aids students' ability to tackle more complex questions and reflect on their methods.

As part of my PhD, I am constantly engaging with maths and physics concepts I learnt at school and university. I find it incredibly rewarding to put my existing knowledge into practice to solve practical problems. I aspire to emulate this during my tutoring so I regularly encourage students to think about and discuss the practical applications of the concepts they are learning.
