English Language GCSE Exam Preparation Course – Online

Course Information

Course Description

This two-day course will teach students the skills they need to ace their English language exams. The tutor will show students how to approach the different types of questions, how to read and analyse extracts in a time-efficient way and how to answer questions in a way to maximise marks. Students will develop their ability to critically evaluate and analyse language, and will leave with increased confidence in their ability to make informed personal responses.

Structured similarly, both Paper 1 and Paper 2 consist of Reading (Section A) and Writing (Section B). The distinction between the papers lies in the texts provided and the writing tasks assigned. In Paper 1, Section A presents a literature fiction text, followed by descriptive or narrative writing tasks in Section B, such as writing a story or describing an unusual place to stay. Conversely, Paper 2 offers a non-fiction text and a literary non-fiction text in Section A, requiring students in Section B to articulate viewpoints, like formulating arguments for magazine articles.

Learners are supported beyond the course through the provision of high-quality, comprehensive and original material including notes, guides and question booklets. These resources have been specially designed and created to supplement the learning experience.

Suitable for:

  • Year 11 students
  • Students looking to improve their exam technique ready for their final exams
  • Year 10 students
  • Foundation tier students
  • Students wanting to review subject knowledge
  • Students predicted a grade 4 or below

If you need help deciding if you will benefit from this course you can contact us. Alternatively, you may prefer to book 1-2-1 tuition instead.

You should receive your Google Classroom link via email the day before your course starts. Sometimes these emails go to the junk folder so check there before contacting us if you haven’t received it.

When will I receive my revision course handouts?

You will receive physical copies of the handouts 3-5 days before the start of your online course, as long as you book with us before the printing deadline. You can find the printing deadline in the course summary box on each booking page.

Please note: we can only send printed handouts to students in the UK.

What if my exam board isn’t listed?

If you can’t see your exam board then we are afraid we aren’t running a course for it. However, this doesn’t mean that one of our courses won’t be useful for you. Contact us to see which course is more closely aligned with your exam board.
